Lots of international flights land in Guatemala each day. The country’s main airport is La Aurora International, which is located near Guatemala City. This airport has recently been expanded to accommodate the burgeoning tourist traffic. A second airport, Flores Airport, sits near the ruins of Tikal and is sometimes used by those who are intent on staying in that area only during their trip.

Flights from a number of U.S. cities on several major carriers fly directly to Guatemala City. From Europe, passengers will need to change planes in a major U.S. hub – usually Miami or New York – and then go on to La Aurora International. Once you arrive, shuttle or taxi service is available at the airport as are car rentals.
